Much of the creative format facilitated by In Tandem Arts is influenced by Applied Theater. Applied Theater encourages inquiry about a stopping block or issue. It employs a practice of questioning, discussing, and addressing an issue,
“…as opposed to focusing on creating a public performance. Participants come together to use various techniques such as role-playing, improvisation, tableaux work, Augusto Boal’s Theatre of the Oppressed techniques, and other interactive methods in order to inspire dialogue, foster education, and enact change.”
Watch this short 3-minute video with Professor Balfour to learn more about how applied theater technique
“…drills into storytelling instincts and enables people to enjoy and take pleasure in a storytelling process.”
